Jugos Boston Juice Bar Review

My new favorite healthy spot in Boston is called Jugos, and I am officially their newest spokesperson (not really, but if they are looking for a sponsor…)

I always tell myself to not spend any money on food during the week, but then I’m sitting at my desk dreaming of a delicious smoothie bowl from Jugos, and I give into the temptation more often than not Life’s too short to not divulge in amazing, fresh smoothie bowls…especially when it’s 90 degrees outside.

Lucky for my taste buds (and not lucky for my wallet) this place is in close proximity to my work. It’s one of those hole in the wall joints that you stumble upon, and are blown away by how delicious everything is.

What I love to get:
  • Smoothie Bowls: Made with fresh, in house cashew milk. These are creamy, filling, delicious and feel luxurious on your tongue. To die for. And they don’t skimp on toppings either. My beautiful bowls are always overflowing with delicious ripe fruit, but you can see that beautiful color peeking out though.

  • Smoothies: Fresh, simple, and healthy. I usually go for their simple green smoothie which has banana, spinach, kale, date, almond milk. Super refreshing, especially in the these hot summer months.

  • Juices and Nut Milks: They have plenty of options for juices, which are already made in the fridge or you can order one fresh and have it customized (add ginger etc). I usually lean towards their simple green juice, but sometimes venture and get the red beet one. They also make in house nut milks, which are blended with fun things like pitaya or cacao powder.

  • Chia Puddings: Plump chia seeds, amazing texture, not too sweet with a perfect amount of crunch. They have a couple of different options for chia pudding: chia rosa, chia matcha, and cacao. They also have simple vanilla, and you can ask to change the toppings.

  • Salads: They have an incredible, simple salad with a Mexican flair that is my ultimate favorite. There are giant pieces of corn, sweet potato, red peppers, carrots, Brussel sprouts, with spinach and kale on the bottom. It’s dressed with an avocado green chile dressing. I love that this salad is light, because I never feel sluggish after consuming it. Paired with a juice or smoothie, this makes a great lunch option

  • Cut up fruit: They have cut up strawberries, grapes, and pineapple. I love getting their chopped up mango or pineapple which has some Chile seasoning, sea salt and lime added to it. Something about this combination is so unique and different. You wouldn’t think it would be delicious, but trust me, it is! I am super inspired to try creating this at home.

Other things to note:

*Jugos does online ordering, which I highly recommend if you are planning to go around lunch hour (12-1pm). The line is pretty long during this time; sometimes out the door. When you submit an online order, all you have to do is go up to the cashier when it’s time to pick it up, state your name, and you’re done.

*It is a small and crowded space with not a lot of breathing room. If you are claustrophobic, you won’t like being in there for more than five minutes. With that being said, you can always wait outside or in the Back bay train station while your order is being prepared. The slight discomfort is worth the wait, in my opinion.

*Very helpful staff who are happy to answer any questions you may have about the food, and they are more than willing to accommodate your dietary needs.

*There is a fresh fruit, vegetable, and flower stand right outside, another factor that makes this experience more aesthetically pleasing.

*They also have guacamole, plantain chips, steel cut overnight oats, and kombucha on display (I can never turn down a kombucha).

*They offer detox packages and juice cleanses that are actually at a fair price; much lower than what I’ve typically seen for juice cleanses. Good to note, if you live in the Boston area.

Overall, I think this is a cute, little spot with great variety. The Mexican spin they put on healthy food makes it that much more delicious and unique. I cannot stay away from this place! I hope they open up more locations (the one in Back Bay is only a pop up).

If any of you go check it out, let me know what you think and if you tried anything I mentioned above!
