How I Extend the Life of My Lash Lift (from a girl with sensitive eyes+skin)

My first-time experience + tips to make it last

Let’s start with this: I was nervous to get a lash lift.

I have super sensitive eyes and skin, and I was worried that it might irritate me—or worse, ruin my lashes. But after researching and asking around, I booked an appointment with Kym at Dollface and I’m so thrilled to say I have 0 regrets.

Kym was kind, professional, and so good at what she does-I’ve seen her before for brow threads and this time was no different. The whole appointment took just under an hour, and when she first showed me the results, I couldn’t believe my lashes were mine without any mascara. My eyes popped and I truly couldn’t fathom it was that easy and effortless- I essentially just laid there and relaxed for an hour and boom! Perfectly curled lashes that appeared much longer.

What I’ve learned from speaking with Kym and doing my own research is that the real magic is in the aftercare—especially if you want the lift to last 4–6 weeks like I do.

💫 My Lash Lift Routine for Sensitive Eyes

I’ve been really intentional about keeping my lashes healthy and lifted without causing irritation. Here’s what I’m doing:

Avoiding Water + Steam for 24 Hours

No washing my face with water, no steamy showers, and definitely no hot yoga right now. Steam can weaken the lift if it hasn’t fully set.

No Mascara or Waterproof Makeup

Waterproof anything = no-go. It’s hard to remove and usually involves tugging or oil, which can mess up the lift and irritate sensitive eyes. I’m skipping mascara for now and using my Ilia Clean Line Liquid Liner, which is gentle and easy to remove.

No Oil-Based Products Near My Eyes

I’m double-checking all my skincare and sticking to oil-free, gentle products near my eyes—especially cleansers and serums. I’m still using Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and a micellar water if I wear a little makeup.

Combing Through with a Clean Spoolie

I ordered a pack of spoolies and brush my lashes every morning. It keeps them fluffy, separated, and lifted. This also happens your lashes continue to grow correctly and not get too wonky.

Sleeping on My Back + Using a Special Eye Mask

Normally, I sleep with an eye mask—but after the lift, I knew a regular one would flatten my lashes. I ordered the Drowsy Lash-Protecting Silk Sleep Mask and it’s amazing. It has contoured pads that let your lashes stay lifted while blocking light. Game changer.

No Rubbing or Pressure on My Lash Line

I’m being super gentle—no rubbing, no scrubbing, no tugging. Sensitive skin thrives on softness, so I treat my eyes like royalty! This is also a good habit in general-the eye area is very sensitive; never a good idea to be super harsh when applying makeup, rubbing your eyes etc. I also recommend a good serum for under the eyes–my favorite is this one by Summer Fridays to keep everything smooth and nourished.

🧴 What I’ll Be Adding to My Routine

I’ve been using castor oil a few nights a week to condition my lashes (waiting at least 5–7 days post-lift before resuming). But I’m also planning to add a lash growth serum that’s made for sensitive eyes. Right now I’m eyeing:

  • Luna Nectar Moon Boost – 100% natural, vegan, and designed for sensitive skin

I’ll alternate the serum with castor oil and avoid overdoing it—consistency and gentleness are key. I will keep you guys posted on the results here!

Plus this mascara from Thrive is awesome. Now that i’m back to wearing a bit of makeup again, I use it regularly and it has some gorgeous ingredients for lash growth!

💖 Final Thoughts+Results after 3 Weeks

Lashes after a few weeks!

If you’re thinking about getting a lash lift but feel nervous—especially if your eyes are sensitive—you totally can. Just make sure to go to someone reputable (shoutout to Kym at Dollface!), and follow a solid aftercare routine.

This little self-care treat made a big impact on how I feel when I wake up in the morning. My lashes look fresh and fluttery, and I feel more confident even without makeup. I’ll definitely be back. I love this routine to be low maintenance generally and highly recommend getting one if you’ve been thinking about it!
